At French Elementary School, abatement work has been completed, and demolition is scheduled to begin the week of June 15, 2026, and continue through July 17, 2026. Demolition timelines for Woodville Heights Elementary School and Baker Elementary School are still being finalized and will be shared with the community as soon as they are confirmed.
We recognize the important history and memories these schools hold for many families and neighborhoods, and we are committed to carrying out this work safely and respectfully.
Residents and nearby businesses may notice the following during work hours:
- More construction vehicles entering and leaving the area
- Temporary daytime noise from demolition equipment and site activity
- Dust-control and debris containment measures in and around the work zone
- Temporary traffic changes or lane adjustments near active work areas
- Security fencing and restricted access around the demolition sites
The district is committed to ensuring that all work is completed safely, responsibly, and in compliance with applicable environmental and safety requirements. We will continue to coordinate with local officials and public safety agencies throughout the project to help minimize disruption and maintain safe and secure work zones.
JPS appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this process and encourages residents to follow posted signage and use caution near active work areas.
